Working with a manufacturer isn't just about their technical skills at a sewing machine or reputation. It's about personalities jiving. That's why your list has 15 contacts instead of 1.
Will the suppliers write back?
A supplier decides who they want to work with, so I can't promise anyone writes back. What I can promise is you won't be cold-emailing random factories who might rip you off.
What should my first email to a supplier say?
Include your tech pack, garment specs, manufacturing budget, MOQ per style per color and fabrics in your very first to boost your chances of reply.
What should I do once I have my list?
- Make sure your intro email answers all 5 questions.
- Create an Excel sheet to keep track of communication.
- Email 4 or 5 suppliers first, not all 15.
- Follow up once, about a week later, in the same thread.
- Pick up the phone and call the number on their website if they still don't answer.
- Update the spreadsheet every time anyone replies, even if the answer is no.
